Frequently asked questions

The Rockhart has a USB/SD play feature. Which USB sticks and SD cards are compatible?
The Rockhart- supports usb sticks and SD and SDHC cards with storage capacities that range from 16Mb to 32Gb. (SDXC cards are not supported). A USB stick or SD card must use the FAT16 or FAT32 file system in order to work with the Rockpro. MP3 or WMA files can be played, even if stored in various folders.

There are actual MP3 and WMA files on my USB stick or SD or SDHC card, but the Rockhart says "NO FILE". What's wrong here?
To read the MP3 en WMA files, the USB sticks or SD or SDHC cards must be formatted according to the following layout:

Capacity of 16Mb to 32Mb -> FAT12
Capacity of 32Mb to 2Gb -> FAT16
Capacity of 2Gb to 32Gb -> FAT32

USB sticks are much more common and used more frequently than SC cards for music, why is the radio fitted with an SD card port?
The advantage of using an SD card compared with a USB stick is that the SD card is fully inserted into the radio’s housing and can then be protected by the rubber cover and kept free of dust and moisture. Unlike the USB stick, which always protrudes from the housing and is therefore more liable to be damaged.

The Rockhart is rechargeable. How long does it play for on a full charge?
The length of time a rechargeable radio plays for on a full charge can never be given precisely as it depends on a number of factors, including the type of music played (e.g. music with more bass requires more power), the volume selected (the higher the volume, the more power used), the ambient temperature (a battery produces less power in low temperatures), the age of the rechargeable batteries, etc.
The Rockhart plays for up to approximately 2 working days on a full charge (at an average volume level, at room temperature – depending on radio reception and music type).

The Rockhart only recharges when switched off. Why is this?
In order to prevent the charging process from having a negative effect on the quality of radio reception and music performance it was decided to separate charging and playing in a number of models.

The Rockhart has 2 LED charge indications. Why?
Charging the batteries in the Rockhart happens in 2 separate charging compartments, each with their own charge circuit. Hence the separate LED charge indications.

The Rockhart does not have a grip at the top like most of the other jobsite radios. Why?
A conscious decision was made not to fit this radio with a grip in order to make it possible to place toolcases on top of this “big boy” during transport. The corrugated rubber on the four corners prevents the toolcases from sliding off.
